How do I get more customers for my business?

Short answer

First look at where you're losing customers now. Are you not being found, are visitors leaving your site, or are inquiries sitting unanswered for too long? Fix the weakest point before you spend money on more visitors. Often, replying faster to the inquiries you already get pays off most.

The first instinct is to advertise. That only helps if the rest is in order. Otherwise you're paying for visitors who leave again.

Step 1: are you being found?

Search for what a customer would actually type, not your business name. If you're not there, that's where to start: a page per service and a complete Google Business Profile.

Step 2: are visitors taking action?

If visitors are coming but inquiries aren't, the problem is the site. Is it clear straight away what you do? Is there a clear call-to-action button right in view? Is the form short?

Step 3: do you reply quickly enough?

Someone who asks for a quote often asks for more than one. Whoever replies first has a head start. An inquiry that sits in your inbox for a day has often already gone to someone else.

Step 4: only then, more visitors

Once the rest is in order, it pays to bring in more people with advertising, content or direct outreach.
