Social mediaHow often should a business post on social media?
2 min readPick a rhythm you can keep up for a year. For most businesses that is two or three posts a week on the channel where your customers are. One good post about your work does more than five posts with nothing to say. After a month, look at which posts bring in replies or leads and make more of those.
There is no magic number. Every platform keeps changing its rules, and what works for a hairdresser doesn't work for an accountant.
Consistency beats frequency
A page with a post every day for three weeks and then nothing for two months looks abandoned. Two posts a week for a year builds more.
Pick one channel first
If you sell to businesses, start with LinkedIn. If you sell to consumers, start with Instagram, Facebook or TikTok. Do one channel well before you start a second.
What you post
Show your work. A job you've finished, a question you're often asked, something that went wrong and what you learned from it. That beats another generic "Happy Monday" graphic.
Measure what it brings in
Likes are nice; customers pay the bills. Ask new customers how they found you, and look at which posts bring people to your site.
